Helen Ruffin Reading Bowls: Picture and Chapter Books

Two Helen Ruffin Reading Bowls are held each year in the District.  A Picture Book Bowl is held each October for grades Kindergarten through 3rd grade and a Chapter Book Bowl is held in January for the 4th and 5th graders.  Students must answer random comprehension questions about books that are selected by the Mary Frances Early College of Education at the University of Georgia.  For a list of current and past book selections please go to the Georgia Children's Book Awards web-site.

Students independently read the books and then meet in the Media Center to practice with a game console to practice answering questions and buzzing in.
