“It is not for school, but rather for life that we learn.”
Goethe
My name is Tamara Holloway. I am
honored to represent Kemp Elementary as Teacher of the Year. Kemp Elementary
and the surrounding community hold a special place in my heart. As a graduate
of Lovejoy High School, I gleaned from the wealth of knowledge and experiences
of my teachers and administrators. As a result, I made a commitment to return
to serve the community that once served me.
As a third grade student, I
fondly remember developing a passion for education. My third grade teacher, who
is considered to be my overall favorite teacher, made learning “magical” and
fostered within me a belief that I could accomplish any goal I desired. From an
early age I knew I wanted to impact the lives of others through education.
For
the past 16 years, I have had the pleasure of teaching a diverse group of
students with varying needs, abilities, gifts, talents, and interests. It is my
belief that as an educator, we possess the keys to prepare our students for
future success. I have devoted my life, energy, and effort toward this belief.
My education includes a Bachelor
of Science in Psychology from Georgia State University; Master of Education in
Special Education from Xavier University; and Educational Specialist in
Curriculum, Instruction, Management, and Administration from Nova Southeastern
University.
My
educational philosophy is to set high expectations, prepare students to be both
recipients and givers of knowledge, value differences, and to promote the
process of life-long learning.
