Accelerated Reader Program

At Kemp Elementary we have a program called Accelerated Reader.  Accelerated Reader is a program designed to grow student's Lexile Levels by encouraging them to read in the range of their current Lexile band.  They then take a short quiz to see if they understood what they read.  The program encourages reading practice. 

The more students read the better readers they will become.  Students receive points for each book they read if they score a 60% or better on a quiz.  The higher the score the more points they receive.   We give students incentives for reading a certain amount of points each month.  

Past incentives have included:  water bottles, ear buds, SKYPE with an author, dance party,  Polar Express movie with hot chocolate and Board / Card Games in the Media Center.

Please ask your child what their goal this month is and you can log into Accelerated Reader and see which books your students are reading and how they are progressing on the quizzes.
